At Lakeside Union School District teachers and staff help ignite passion in today’s students for tomorrow’s opportunities. Lakeside Middle School achieves this through its innovative technology classes. The middle school has 4 programs that students can participate in to learn more about computer science subjects. These programs include digital design, advanced digital design, technology, and robotics. As the STEM field continues to grow and the demand for students with STEM skills increases, Lakeside Middle School’s classes help prepare students for their future at a young age.

Digital Design

The digital design class at Lakeside Middle School offers students the opportunity to learn digital design principles. Students use programs like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create digital art and designs. Students can exert creative thinking when they learn skills related to Photoshop, video editing, web design, and graphic design.

Advanced Digital Design

In the advanced digital design class, students develop their skills further through a year-long project-based class. The class is open to 7th and 8th graders who have previously completed the Digital Design or Technology courses. Students learn advanced concepts in photoshop and video editing as well as coding and 3-D design.

Technology

In technology class students delve into technology and many of the different aspects of computers. A few of the topics covered include coding, making 3-D models, and working with computer hardware and robotics. Students do not need to have previous experience with computers to take this class and gain new skills!

Robotics

In robotics class, students can get creative through hands-on projects with programming and coding. Students use multiple coding languages including Block, Python, and Java to fulfill complex challenges. Students are also exposed to internal computing components.

The classes at Lakeside Middle School help kids get a head start using innovative technology. As technology becomes increasingly relevant in all fields, kids can gain invaluable skills early in life.
